The latest Lotus Exige Sport has 385hp on tap, the 3.5 litre V6 catapults from 0 to 60 in 3.5secs and then on up to a top speed of 178mph. That’s 1000cc sports bike territory.
Aesthetically, I’m not a great fan of the red highlights but I’ll forgive this pandering to modern fashion due to the head to toe dousing in carbon (This is ok, as it’s functional fashion and I like it).
The new 380 iterates on last year’s 350 with weight, power and aerodynamics improvements.
Due to its lightweight and a power to weight ratio of 352hp per tonne it is capable of seriously outmanoeuvring the competition. A Supercharged 3.5 litre V6 in an extruded aluminium chassis will do that. Gearbox options include a very trick looking open gate six-speed manual or a six-speed flappy paddle automatic.
With an RRP of £67,000 ownership could lead to embarrassing drivers of some massively more expensive machinery. What’s not to love. Mind you there is far less electronic jiggery-pokery going on, so you will need to actually drive.
