Yet again Lord March has excelled with the Festival of Speed. I don’t know if it is better than last year but it certainly seems so, the theme being the motorsport history of BMW doesn’t seem to hurt, with E30 M3s, M1 and M6 racers blasting around is a sight to see, not forgetting the sounds and smells. Getting up-close and personal with the cars drivers and crew is a real buzz.
Only being there for Friday, we arrived lateish, around 11am (had to drop kids off at 8am) really highlighted the need for more than one day, I didn’t stop all day, there is so much going on and missed the Cartier Lawn, full of the most rare and exotic classics.
However, watching the supercars and historic racers fly up the hill at the hands of some of the past and present drivers was a privilege, getting up close as the cars return to the paddocks, the NASCARs were LOUD and free revving monsters.
Then there was the Off Road Track and the Rally Stage with some of history’s finest storming through the woods.
