Another Goodwood Festival of Speed under the belt. I wasn’t going to go this year, I try to get to different events each year. Last year I discovered the wonder that is Shelelsey Walsh and starting going to more historic race meets. Anyway, after telling a few people that I was going to miss FOS, the following conversations soon convinced me not to fight the inevitable draw to Goodwood and the monster that is the Festival of Speed.
Needless to say, there were no regrets, I don’t think there were many Ferrari 250’s that weren’t in attendance, they are such fantastically beautiful cars and those glorious V12s.
I’m not sure multiple 250GTO owning, Pink Floyd drumming, Nick Mason was too pleased with all the attention he was getting in the Paddocks (Sorry)
Along with all the supercars, hypercars and luxury brands belting it up the hill, a highlight for me is the rally stage. With the continuous flow of timed runs, there is always something blasting off the line and through the woods, with everything from current WRC cars to Monte Carlo Mini Coopers mixed in with the favourites from all ears in between.
It wasn’t just classic Ferraris. Ferrari and Ferrari collectors had pulled out all the stops, it was fantastic seeing and hearing racing Ferraris running the hill.
Having open paddocks is such a bonus, most of the teams put up with you having a respectful nose around.
