A bigger and better Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show this year. A number of people at the show commented on the improved layout and variety of cars.
The show was huge, 2500 cars and bikes with over 7,000 visitors, the show covered everything for the discerning petrolhead, supercars, historic racers, club stands with everything from familiar favorites to the more obscure models, the 3ltr Mk2 Cortina Savage 3000GT Estate, a 1972 Ford Capri Broadspeed Bullit Turbo, a pre-production Range Rover Velar, pretty much every other car was an obscure model or had an interesting background.
Ant Anstead, co-presenter of popular classic car series “For the Love of Cars” debuted his latest sports car creation (below). A stunning beastie to add to the fantastic remakes in the style of iconic British sports cars of the past. Check out Ant’s car company Evanta.
Silverstone Auctions had a huge number of exotic classics on sale including every fast ford you can imagine, my favourite was this 1963 Ford Galaxie 500XL racer (below), a massive car with massive 7ltr V8. Not one but two ‘Slantnose’ Porsche 911s, one raised £202,000 the other £211,500, two Jaguar XJ12 coupes. The list goes on and on. Oh yes and a stunning Wood and Pickett Mk2 Mini Cooper which sold for just under £50,000. The biggest ticket was the 1957 Porsche 365A T1 Speedster which sold for £306,563.
80% of the lots sold with total sales of £5.8million.
The Sporting Bears Charity Dream Rides had a great collection available for rides with everything from a Countach to a VW camper, they even raffled rides in a Pagani Huyara! Sporting Bears offer rides, this one event will raise tens of thousands for children’s charities.
Ayrton Senna’s Lotus 98T (Not a Sporting Bears ride)…
And there’s more…
